Quading Trip
Every fifth Thursday our family plans a three day quading trip on the Oregon sand dunes. my dad will sometime rent out a cabin for all three days. The places we usually ride at are, Winchester bay, coos bay, sand lake, and Florence. We wake up bright and early while the sun hasn’t come up yet. We load up the quads, sand rails and coolers of food. In a few hours I will be flying on the beach. Our family has been doing this for a couple years now and it never will get old. There is always something you can upgrade to for more power on the dunes. On the way I sleep and dream about our trip.
We get excited as we approach the camp site, smelling the fresh beach air. Everyone can’t help but watch us roll into the parking lot. First we unload the all of our stuff from the truck into the cabin. If we get there late then instead of going out for a ride, we make a fire and eat s'mores. Nothing smells better than a burning campfire unless it’s our banshee exhaust. Most nights we stay up late with friends playing with the fire and sharing stories. Many times i have fallen asleep in a chair around the fire and didn't wake up until i was soaking wet in the morning.
In morning we eat pancakes around the fire before we ride. I start the quads to warm them up as we clean up breakfast. After were done cleaning I gear up with my riding pants and helmet. Finally were ready to go rip on the sand. We gas up the toys with mixed fuel and start up with a kick. Before we reach the dunes there's a trail that we take to get out there. There’s no feeling in the world that will top gliding across the sand on a Quad. There’s so much power when you hit the throttle sometimes you can pull the front end up. For hours we climb hills, jump razorbacks, spray sand everywhere. The only reason we go back to camp is because our quad broke down. Sometime i can just sit on top of a dune watching other people and the ocean. As the sun sets we take a lot of pictures and make our way back to camp.
My first time i rode my quad the engine blow and me and my friend was stranded on the dunes, in the sun for over an hour. We didn't fix the quad for a long time and when it got fixed the engine blow again. After that i got a new one and since then i have rolled it three times.
On Saturday we load and go for one more ride on the dunes, so we can be on the road as soon as possible. I say one last goodbye to the dunes as we drive off. Driving back we sometimes plan for our next fifth Thursday.
